Challenge
The previous website of TSV Ladbergen did not meet current technical or design standards. The outdated design and lack of user-friendliness led to the club being perceived as uninviting and outdated online. The goal of the project was to fundamentally modernize the online presence and create a vibrant, personal appearance that would appeal to both existing members and attract new individuals.
User Research
To develop a user-centered solution, the following questions were explored using AI-powered research and qualitative interviews:
- What expectations do people from different age groups in a village have of a sports club?
- What advantages does a local sports club offer from the perspective of the target groups?
- Which departments of TSV Ladbergen are particularly popular, and which are less so?
- How can design and content create a personal, approachable image?
- What experiences and wishes does the club board have regarding the previous and future website?
Concept and Implementation
Content & Structure:
- Collection and preparation of relevant content: texts, contact persons with contact details, images, logos
- Planning a user-oriented information architecture with a focus on particularly active club areas
- Integration of a news section for dynamic content
Design & Development:
- Development of design ideas with ChatGPT and other AI tools as sparring partners
- Creation of a responsive design system in Penpot for collaborative design
- Use of AI tools for text and image generation as the basis for consistent content
- Technical implementation based on TYPO3 CMS for easy editorial management by club members
- Initial content population with AI-generated materials to avoid empty page sections
Optimization:
- Accessibility and SEO were reviewed and optimized using specialized AI-based browser plugins
Testing and Validation:
- Ongoing evaluation through heuristic evaluation and 5-second tests to assess usability
- Analysis of website performance using Google Search Console to evaluate visibility and user interactions
Result
The new club website was very well received. Shortly after launch, the first new registrations and published articles were recorded. The site presents a modern, human, and authentic image of the club and forms a sustainable foundation for the digital communication of TSV Ladbergen.
